Montana state health officials reported two additional deaths and 139 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.

The state death toll now stands at 140. Two additional deaths were reported by Yellowstone County health officials Tuesday. Here's the full press release:

RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports two additional Yellowstone County residents died in late August due to COVID-19 related illness.

While these deaths occurred at the end of August, due to data reconciliation, they are being reported today, and are reflected on the Tuesday, September 15 state COVID-19 tracking map.

On Saturday, August 29, a man in his 90s passed away in a Yellowstone County senior living facility of COVID-19 related illness.

On Monday, August 31, a woman also in her 90s passed away due to COVID-19 related illness in another Yellowstone County senior living facility.

To protect the privacy of the deceased and their families, RiverStone Health will not release further information.

“I hope that the families and friends of the deceased have found peace in the few weeks since their loved ones have passed,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health.

“Eighteen Yellowstone County residents lost their lives due to COVID-19 related illness in August. Because of COVID-19, 54 families in our community are no longer able hear the voice of their loved one or share stories of the day. Please do your part so that more families don’t needlessly suffer the pain of losing a loved one to COVID-19,” said Felton.

To date, 2,536 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 54 have died.

Missoula County reported the highest number of new cases with 30. Rosebud County reported 27 new cases, followed by Yellowstone County with 19. Cascade County reported 17 new cases, and Big Horn County added nine cases.

The remaining new cases were spread across 16 Montana Counties.
