Montana state health officials reported two new deaths due to COVID-19 and 97 new cases of the virus on Tuesday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
One of the additional deaths wasreported by Big Horn County health officials on Monday afternoon. The other death wasreported in Lewis and Clark County.
The state now reports a total of 77 COVID-19 deaths, and the same number of people currently are hospitalized.
Phillips County reported the highest number of new cases with 27, followed by Yellowstone County with 21. Big Horn County reported 10 new cases, and Flathead, Lewis and Clark, and Silver Bow counties each reported five new cases. The remaining new cases were reported in 13 counties across the state, including in Mineral County where the first two cases were reported.
Petroleum and Carter counties are now the only areas of the state that have not reported any coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.

The total cumulative total number of cases in Montana now stands at 5,104. The total number of recoveries is now at 3,542, and the active number of cases is reported at 1,485.
Active Cases
Yellowstone County continues to record the highest number of active cases with 590, followed by Big Horn County with 290 active cases.
There have been a total of 194,412 tests for the virus, an increase of 1,007 during the previous 24-hour reporting period.
