FORSYTH - Rosebud County health officials announced Tuesday the first COVID-19 death in that county's health department jurisdiction.
In aFacebook post, county health officials said they were notified of the death on Monday.
"We are grieved of this loss along with the losses in our neighboring communities and across the state," the post states. "We are thankful for the diligence of our community to continue to adhere to the guidelines set forth by our state and local leaders. Please continue to do your part to protect those you come in contact with."
Montana state health officials have previously reported 23 deaths in Rosebud County, but those deaths fall under the jurisdiction of a separate public health office operated on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation by Indian Health Services, said Michelle Spencer, a spokeswoman for Rosebud County. State health officials do not distinguish between the COVID-19 data from the county and the IHS office, Spencer said.
