BILLINGS - COVID-19 is also putting a hold on elephants, tigers, aerialists and clowns who were headed for Billings next Month.

As with all other events drawing in hundreds or even thousands of people together, the 69th Annual Al Bedoo Shrine Circus in Billings set for April 1 through 5 has been postponed.

The Al Bedoo Shriners said Thursday that they have future alternate dates set, but they’re not ready to release those dates until the community and country know more about the spreading coronavirus and how long its impact will be felt.

Lucky Seibert, local Shriner and Intermission Ring master for the circus said: “We need to take it seriously so it will get over quicker.”

Seibert said the the postponement and the canceling of several other events at the Shrine are creating major stress during a usually busy time of year.

The local 5-day, 10-performance event draws nearly 15,000 people each year to the Shrine auditorium at 1125 Broadwater Ave. and is the major fundraiser to support keeping the lights on and keep the facility open for the community to use. It also pays for an employee who stays on top of the paperwork for local Shrine kids who need medical assistance and care at Shrine hospitals across the region.

Seibert said he appreciates all of the support and those who have already purchased tickets for this years event. Those tickets will be honored for the alternate dates when announced, or if you would like a refund you can go to the event center at 1125 Broadwater Ave.

If you purchased the tickets online you must go back online to get your refund. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $7.00 for children.
