(UPDATE) Bozeman police determined that the bicyclist was a nine-year-old girl, who died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to a press release from the city.

Preliminary findings show the child was riding a bicycle west on the south side of Griffin and made an abrupt turn across Griffin in front of the vehicle, according to the release.
Several witnesses have provided statements to law enforcement, who responded at 10:52 a.m. According to the release, the driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.
Bozeman Police Chief Jim Veltkamp shared the following statement:
“It is with heavy hearts that we share this update. The loss of a child is a tragedy. Our deepest condolences go out to the friends, family, and truly the entire community, as we are all impacted by this loss.”
The incident is currently being investigated by Bozeman police detectives and Montana Highway Patrol. The child's name will be released at a later time.
(1st REPORT) At around 11:18 a.m. on Wednesday, there was a collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist that resulted in the death of a child.
The crash happened near the intersection of Griffin and Rouse Avenue.
Few details are available at this point, including the identity of the child and the cause of the collision.
Police are continuing to investigate.
