BILLINGS- Panera Bread is planning to open its first Billings restaurant.
Franchise owner Ryan Restaurants filed a building permit July 2 with the city to build a new $600,000 restaurant at 110 S. 24th St. W., near the new WinCo grocery store.
Massachusetts-based Panera has more than 2,000 franchises nationwide, which serve fresh baked bread, pastries, sandwich, pasta and other food in a cafe-style setting.
The permit did not indicate when the new restaurant would open.
