BILLINGS- The 41st annual Summerfair started Friday night at a new venue.
The Rimrock Mall is the new location for the Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) fundraiser.
The is the sixth location in the history of Summerfair. The event was at Veterans Park last year.
This year, the art is outside and an education booth is inside the mall.
Summerfair introduces many children and adults to art, organizers said.
“A lot of times, this is everyone’s first chance at experiencing art firsthand,” said Bryan Knicely, YAM executive director. “Whether you’re buying something for the first time or actually looking at somebody hand make something. That’s important so people understand why we do that at the museum and having fine artwork hanging on the wall.
And it’s an opportunity for the artist.
“It’s great for them. I mean, this is really their bread and butter,” Knicely said. “They go from festival to festival all summer long.”
Summerfair runs from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
