BILLINGS – Yellowstone County will be under Stage 1 fire restrictions by the end of the week.
On Tuesday, county commissioners voted to enact restrictions and put them in effect on Friday, Aug. 10 at 12:01 a.m.
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions ban all campfires except in developed recreation sites, fire rings or improved sites.
They also prohibit smoking, except in enclosed vehicles or buildings, at developed recreation sites or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
Last year, Stage 1 restrictions were in place by July 1.
