Hot and dry conditions are ahead this week.

Other than a few showers and thunderstorms over Southeast Montana and the Bighorn Mountains Monday, expect a very dry week.

A strong high pressure ridge will keep temperatures moving up from the 70s to mid-80s Monday to the 90s and possible 100s by Friday.

Wildfire smoke may hold back temperatures by a few degrees. Some record high temperatures will be threatened.

Use extreme caution with anything that could spark a wildfire.  Take breaks when working outdoors and stay hydrated.  Do not leave children or pets in vehicles.

A low-pressure trough will start to break down the heat Saturday night through Sunday.

Billings forecast:

Monday…Sunny with a high of about 84.  Westerly breeze 5 to 10 mph.

Monday night…Clear to mostly clear.  Low near 58.

Tuesday…More sun and temperatures climb to around 90.
