Conservation and safety, that’s what organizers of the 7th Annual Big Sky Youth Event hope kids get from the shooting range.

Kids learned about guns and archery at the Blue Creek Shooting Complex on Saturday.

The kids learned about fire-arm safety before shootings shotguns, .22’s, pistols and a bow and arrow.

“Anything we have out here, we want to stress the safe use of them,” said Beverly Wornom, one of the event coordinators and co-chair of Yellowstone County Ducks Unlimited.  “They’re so excited and maybe they’ve never done it before so yea, it’s really pretty rewarding for all of us to do that."

It’s a chance to introduce kids to the outdoors.

"We are all conservation minded,” said Wornom.  “We are all working to conserve either the wetlands or the upland birds and we all work together."

Several hunting groups and the Friends of the NRA put on the Big Sky Youth Event.
