Grunge band Pearl Jam joined the ranks of celebrities to have criticized U.S. First Lady Melania Trump’s fashion choice while visiting migrant children in Texas last week.

At a show in Milan on Friday, lead singer Eddie Vedder’s wife Jill Vedder appeared on stage wearing a khaki jacket customized with what appeared to be white tape, emblazoned with the slogan, "Yes we all care, y don’t u."

The band posted the picture on their official Twitter page after the gig at I-Days festival.

One day earlier, Trump caused controversy when she was photographed en route to visit migrant children wearing a jacket which read "I really don’t care. Do U?" in white lettering.

Fans on Twitter praised Vedder’s reponse but others were not so keen on the band’s political stance, with some highlighting what they viewed to be double standards.

One Twitter user pointed to Italy’s own stance on migrants and urged the group to "just play the great music".

President Donald Trump’s administration has faced fierce criticism in recent weeks for separating more than 2,000 children from their families in order to prosecute their parents for crossing the border from Mexico illegally.

Trump last week signed an executive order to keep families together in detention during immigration proceedings.
