New splash pad opens in South Park in Billings

Posted

After nearly a decade, younger children will once again have a place for summer fun in South Park.

The South Park Sprayground opened on Friday afternoon.

It’s the first recirculating sprayground in Montana.

Billiings Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Director Mike Whitaker said an underground pool sanitizes and reuses the water.

Crews finished constructing the $1.2 million dollar park last Friday and a grand opening was held this Friday.

Whitaker said the new facility replaces the wading pool that was removed about eight years ago.

It’s open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through September.

The Sprayground is in the northwest part of the South Park, near the swimming pool, playground and basketball courts.
