Q2 Weather: Everything we need for severe storms tonight

Posted

We have very favorable conditions for very unfavorable weather Thursday afternoon and evening.

Strong to severe storms will likely form somewhere over the area Thursday afternoon and evening.  The question now is where will the storms hit, and what will be the impacts.

Storms could large damaging hail, strong winds, frequent lightning, with isolated areas of heavy rain. A funnel cloud or tornado would not be out of the question.

High temperatures will be mainly in the 70s to mid 80s with increasing afternoon clouds. Best chance of storms will start in the afternoon through the evening hours.

For Billings, the best chance of thunderstorms is likely between 5 and 9 PM.  But storms could develop any time during the afternoon or evening.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… Increasing clouds with a high near 83. A chance of showers and thunderstorms kicks in by the afternoon.

Thursday night… Chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially through sunset. Some storms could be severe. Gradual clearing overnight with a low of around 57.

Friday… Sunny with a high of about 84.
