Stillwater County Undersheriff wins primary election

Posted

For the first time in 29 years there will soon be a new sheriff in charge in Stillwater County.

Undersheriff Charles "Chip" Kem won Tuesday’s primary election, defeating Gary Timm  67 percent to 33 percent.

Kem’s final margin of victory was 787 to 389.

Because there is no democratic candidate, Kem will run unopposed in the November general election.

Incumbent Sheriff Cliff Brophy, who held down the Stillwater County Sheriff’s job for nearly three decades, did not run for re-election.
