Billings girl reported missing returns home safely

Billings police report Jaylene Younghawk returned home at about 11 p.m. Thursday

"Jaylene stated that she had left her residence on her own and had been by herself while she was gone," Sgt. Shane Sheldon said in a press release. "She was not injured and is now home and safe."

No other information was released.


BILLINGS – Police are looking for a 12-year-old girl who walked away from her home about 5:40 p.m. Thursday.

Jaylene Younghawk, 12, is 5 feet tall and 80 pounds, according to Billings police. She was identified as Jaylene Whitehawk by the Montana Department of Justice. 

 She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black Under Armour sweater and a grey backpack.

No suspicious circumstances are surrounding the incident, and Billings police say the girl is not believed to be in immediate danger. 

She lives in a local group home and walked away after a verbal altercation with another resident, according to police.

She may be headed to Lame Deer.
