One the competitions for the 2018 Big Sky State Games finished Sunday .
Curling had to be played before Centennial Ice Arena turns off the ice for the season.
Two Billings teams met for the championship with Guys On Ice beating the Hack Panthers.
The tournament started with 11 teams and the competition was close throughout the weekend, according to Big Sky State Games Curling Commissioner Chris Belback.
Teams from Missoula, Bozeman and Williston came to Billings.
The teams have a camaraderie on and off the ice.
"We’ve all played together on teams and we’ve played against each other a lot,” said Belback, also a player for the Hack Panthers. “It was kind of like a rival thing for us to kind of go against each other there. When a person throws, they call it curling because you put a turn on it so it’ll curl. The main point is just to try and get more of your stones closer than your opponents stones to the very center of the circle. And so you kind of have to all be talking and communicating to get that done."
Ice Skating and hockey had competitions earlier in the year.
The Big Sky State Games run July 20-22.
