Five Falls Christian School’s Lego Robotics team is headed to a national robotics competition in a few weeks.
The team of five students, the Five Falls Flood, competed in regionals in Washington where they placed first and second in the project challenged.
The team learned a few weeks ago that they qualified for the national tournament, which takes place the first weekend in May.
Coach Mike Clark said that while the experience has been fun, it’s also preparing them for the future.
"The whole program is intended to get kids exposed to science, technology, engineering principles early so they can see if these kinds of things interest them," he said. "It gives them a way to get into that in a fun and somewhat competitive environment."
The First Lego League National Competition is in Orlando, Florida on May 6.
The competition requires students to find a solution to a problem while building a robot out of Lego blocks.
The Five Falls Flood must research, create a presentation, and work with experts in their field.
