Montana added two new COVID-19 cases Wednesday ending a four-day stretch of no new cases across the state, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
The number of cases reported by the state has reached 481. MTN is reporting one fewer total cases and one fewer recovered cases due to a case in Jefferson County that local health authorities report involved a patient who was not in the state.
The two new cases are being reported in Yellowstone and Big Horn counties.
Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder reported Tuesday the new case involves a female inmate at the county jail. State officials said the case involves a woman in her 30s.
Also on Tuesday health officials in Big Horn County reported a new case involving a teenage boy.
The number of deaths in the state increased by one this week to 17 following the death of an elderly woman in Yellowstone County.
The number of people who have recovered from the virus increased by three on Wednesday to 444. The number of hospitalizations now stands at two, according to the most recent report.
There are 20 active cases across the state, including three in Yellowstone County and six in Big Horn County.
The total number of tests over the 24-hour reporting period increased by 1,741 to reach a total of 35,643.
