BUTTE — Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a 5-month-old infant who was found in a car that was parked at a Butte intersection near the police station with her mother who was sleeping at the time on Sept. 25th.

Police are still awaiting the autopsy on the victim which should be done by next week. As of Friday, no one was been detained and no charges have been filed in this matter.

Police said the mother and the father of the victim were in the process of moving out of their Butte home the morning of the incident.

“There was an argument, it wasn’t physical, and she just left the residence with her two-year-old and their infant,” said Butte Undersheriff George Skuletich.

Police are awaiting all the final reports in this investigation before they determine if there will be any charges filed.

“We had a debrief on it and everybody was very much affected by it. It’s just a tragedy all the way around, it’s sad,” said Skuletich.

Police said the mother has been cooperating with the investigation.
