MISSOULA — Essential Eats Distributors in Missoula is bringing food to several Montana reservations this holiday season.
The nonprofit has already collected 700 turkeys to distribute for Thanksgiving and is now raising money to distribute Christmas dinners.
Last year the group donated 63,000 pounds of food to families across Montana.
They are delivering to multiple reservations including the Flathead, Fort Belknap, Blackfeet, and Northern Cheyenne.
Director Sara Weck said she sees stories of hunger everyday.
"Because food insecurity is not just a thought. The stories I hear are of people who actually have no resource or extremely little resources this holiday season, and it's an opportunity to send a happy greeting," said Weck
