HELENA - Gov. Steve Bullock ordered flags lowered to half-staff Monday following the deadly weekend mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

Here's the governor's full statement:

Governor’s Proclamation

I hereby order flags flown in the state of Montana to be displayed at half-staff on Monday, August 5th, 2019, until sunset on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 out of respect for the victims and the families of two separate mass shootings that took place in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio over the weekend.

I’m devastated for the families whose lives were forever changed due to these acts of violence and terrorism. It’s not enough for our hearts to go out to them or to once again lower the flags. We need action and we need it now.

This is the ninth time since the Las Vegas shooting the President has asked me to lower the flags for a mass shooting—this time not for one, but two, and in less than twenty-four hours.

Dated this 5th day of August 2019.
