BILLINGS — Take a look at that sky, that's what we call, “severe clear”, in the weather business.

That's what's happening in Billings on this Labor Day holiday. Not only that, but the temperature in the early afternoon is 94 degrees and expected to get a little bit higher.

Around the rest the state the temperatures are mostly into the 70s and 80s out West, mostly 80s back in East.

It's only in central Montana we have temperatures in the 90s and also northern Wyoming.

Today's Weather Bobcast for Sept. 2. 2019

However, it won’t be too long before we get into the 90s across parts of Eastern Montana as well.

Our thunderstorm Outlook for today shows only isolated thunderstorms in the extreme northeast corner the state and a marginal risk of severe storms up in Roosevelt, Sheridan and Richland counties.

The Doppler radar and satellite every shows most of those storms have come and gone and now and are on their way to central North Dakota.

While back in south-central Montana, we still have downsloping winds off the Beartooth Mountains which is helping to warm things up today.

Our High-Resolution forecast model shows we are expecting dry conditions throughout the afternoon, but maybe about 6:30 p.m. we could see some thundershowers develop North of Billings and push into Treasure County.

They're not expected to be severe, but we could see some brief periods of heavy rain.

After that we expect dry conditions right on through Tuesday morning and most of the day on Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

Our temperatures will continue to stay in the 90s for little while and start rolling back down into the low 60s in the morning and back up into the 80s about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

We will actually top out at 86 on Tuesday, 92 degrees on Wednesday and then roll it all the way back down to 76 degrees on this coming Sunday.
