BOZEMAN — After what feels like weeks of rumors, Boise State finally decided that it would hire Oregon defensive coordinator Andy Avalos to replace Bryan Harsin, who left the Broncos for Auburn, according to the Idaho Press and Blue Turf sports.
A source confirmed to MTN Sports that Jeff Choate is staying at Montana State University. The Bobcats' coach later posted to his Twitter account: "God is good. I’m so thankful for all the love and support I’ve received over the past several weeks. While I’m appreciative to have had the opportunity to engage with Boise State, I’m thankful to be the head coach at Montana State University. #UnfinishedBusiness #GoCatsGo"

Choate had quite the history with Boise State, helping preside over some of the best teams the Broncos have ever had. He spent time there as a coach from 2006-11 as a running backs, linebackers and special teams coach.
In March of 2020, Montana State signed Choate to a new contract through 2024.
Choate has led the Bobcats to a 28-22 record in his four years as their head coach, leading the team to a better overall record every single year. In 2019 Montana State made it to semifinal round of the FCS Playoffs before losing to powerhouse North Dakota State 42-14.
