BILLINGS — As part of his outreach to each state of the Ninth Federal Reserve District, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari will visit Billings on Thursday to hear from area residents, business owners and civic leaders about the region’s economy.
“During my time in Billings, I’ll be meeting with a wide-range of people, including tribal leaders, business leaders and workers, to better understand the region’s successes and challenges,” Kashkari said in a news release. “Learning about the community helps me to represent our district as we set monetary policy for the nation.”
Kashkari will begin his visit on Thursday morning, with a business leader roundtable followed by a discussion about the state of early child care in Montana. At noon, Kashkari will hold a free, public town hall at Petro Theater at Montana State University Billings. Stockman Bank CEO and Minneapolis Fed Helena Branch director William Coffee will serve as moderator.

Following the town hall, Kashkari will meet with Billings-area tribal leaders and then tour the ExxonMobil refinery.
Kashkari has been president of the Minneapolis Fed since January 2016. Every year of his tenure, he has visited each of the six states of the Bank’s Ninth District.
