BILLINGS — Fallen leaves, broken branches and felled trees were a common theme in Billings and the surrounding area Friday after a big hail storm hit about 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

The storm caused large trees to fall into power lines, broke two poles and damaged wire.

According to NorthWestern Energy, about 2,000 customers lost power, mainly in the Heights.

Crews from Hardin and Columbus and worked with the Billings crew through the night.

By 5:30 a.m., most customers had power restored.

Yellowstone Valley Electric employees also worked overnight in Shepherd and Blue Creek to help restore power.
