BILLINGS — Mostly cloudy skies are beginning to roll into Billings Tuesday, but the temperatures are hanging in very comfortably at 73 degrees in the early afternoon.
Around the rest of the state, the temperatures are mostly into the 60s in the west and the east with a few scattered 70s, sprinkled around central Montana.
Billings, Bozeman, Havre and Sheridan are all lucky enough to have those 70s.
Our thunderstorm outlook for Tuesday does show isolated thunderstorms possible in the Northeast corner the state with a marginal risk of severe storms in Sheridan, Roosevelt and Richland counties.
Right now, the Doppler radar and satellite imagery shows a few scattered showers and thunderstorms dropping down out of Saskatchewan, Canada and moving into the Northeast corner Montana.
So far nothing severe but we have seen some small hail up in Phillips County, just west of Glasgow.
The high-resolution forecast shows a few spotty sprinkles across southern Montana Tuesday afternoon. Many of these are not even making it to the ground.
We might see a few scattered sprinkles again Wednesday about 4:30 a.m., but after that, most of the showers seem to fade away across southern Montana and the rest of the state on Wednesday afternoon.
However, on Thursday, we begin to see our weather pattern change with a big chunk showers starting to move down from north to south across the state and into Billings during the afternoon.
This will bring a cooler, wetter and possibly snowy weekend for much of Montana.
However, today we will cook up to 75 degrees next hour than roll back down to the 50s in the morning and back to 64 degrees, about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
On Wednesday, we will top out at 69 degrees and then continue to roll all the way back to the 40s. For highs, on Sunday and Monday we see low 30s for overnight lows. This means we also have a chance of rain mixing with snow on those days.
