BILLINGS — After picking up almost an inch of rain in the past 24 hours, the weather has turned out very nice in Billings on Friday afternoon.
The current temperature in Billings in the early afternoon is 72 degrees under a mostly sunny sky.
Around the rest of the state the temps are in 60s in the southwest and 70s in the northwest and eastern Montana.
Our thunderstorm outlook for Friday shows only isolated thunderstorms for south-central Montana and a marginal risk of sSevere storms in southeastern Montana and northern Wyoming.
The weather story Friday revolves around this low-pressure cell over Yellowstone Park. It is activating some showers in the Cody foothills and the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming.
We think the showers will, like Thursday, start in Wyoming and move north into Montana.
The high-rResolution forecast model shows only spotty showers along the state line with Wyoming. It doesn’t look like Billings will see any rain until about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Our temperatures should stay in the 70s for the rest of Friday then bump back up into the
upper 80s on Saturday.
Pre-frontal warming should cook us up into the 80s just before a new cold front moves in that night. That’s when we will start to fall back to the 70s for all of next week.
