BILLINGS — Billings is on the backside of a cold front today. That usually means partly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, and strangely enough that's what's happening right now.

Currently it's 46 degrees in Billings with partly skies. Around the rest of the state our temperatures are mostly into the 30s and 40s out in the West, although Kalispell is up to around 50.

Temperatures in Eastern Montana are into the 30s and 40s.

The Doppler radar shows scattered snow showers continue across the Great Falls area all the way down towards the Beartooth Foothills.

We see a few scattered rain and snow showers up the Northeast corner the state, but now much of Eastern Montana remains dry at this time.

The High-Resolution forecast model shows a few scattered snow showers lingering around the Western mountains, but also shows more rain and snow across Eastern Montana and so far, that has not happened.

What is happening is a new area of high pressure is moving in from the West later tonight, and by tomorrow morning it could hold back in batch of rain and snow up in northern Montana.

We believe some of this rain and snow could make its way to central Montana by midday Thursday, but then it rapidly dissipates Thursday afternoon.

This sets us up for a mostly sunny sky on Friday, but you can see the weekend's cold front already starting to make its way into southern Canada and that will knock us back into the 30s for highs, next week.

Billings is not expecting very much precipitation for the rest of the day, but Livingston and Bozeman could see a little bit and the same thing is true at Miles City.

Our temperatures will continue to fall to 30° by tomorrow morning and back up into the 40s by tomorrow afternoon.

We could even top out at 66 degrees on Friday and then that second cold front moves through and temperatures will fall through the weekend all the way into the 30s by the early part of next week.
