BILLINGS — It is Friday afternoon in the Big Sky and what a wonderful day it would be to go to MontanaFair. The early afternoon temperature is already up to 81 degrees with a west wind at 15 mph.
That wind will feel especially good the blacktop at the midway of the fair.
Our current temps are mostly into the 70s out in the west. And look at all the 80s back in the east.
Glasgow and Jordan are in the mid-80s, while Billings is still at 81 degrees.
Our thunderstorm outlook for Friday shows isolated thundershowers across much of Montana east of the Divide, while the big storms are expected to stay around the Black Hills of South Dakota.
The Doppler radar shows you what’s happening: the next system is a cold front dropping down from Canada that continues to move from the northwest to the southeast.
We think it will probably stay fairly dry in the Billings area throughout most of the afternoon.
Starting later Friday night, you’ll start to see showers move in from the northwest. And by Saturday morning, look for more rain.
After that, the sun starts to come out on Sunday, and the temperatures start to jump up into the 90s. We will stay in those 90s all the way through next week.
Our temperatures will continue to stay into the 80s through 6:30 p.m. then roll back down to 56 degrees in the morning and back up into the low 60s Saturday afternoon.
We will actually top out at 73 degrees on Saturday then get into the 90s, Sunday through Thursday, with 94 degrees being the hottest temperature on Wednesday and Thursday.
