BILLINGS — It is another severe clear day across Billings and much of south-central Montana. Just take a look at a clear blue sky from Billings all the way to the Beartooth Mountains.
The early afternoon temperature in the Billings area today is already up to 86 degrees with a south wind at about 7 mph.
Around the rest of the state, the temps are mostly into the 70s and 80s out west and a few 70s and 80s back in the east.
Our thunder outlook for Tuesday does show a few isolated thunderstorms possible along the Hi-Line and in the Southwest. Plus, we have a fire weather watch for most of central Montana from Canada all the way down and Wyoming.
That is for hot, dry and windy conditions. Should a fire get started, it would burn out of control in a hurry. On Wednesday, the winds are expected to gust up to 30 mph.
However, there is nothing on the Doppler radar Tuesday, just a northwesterly flow of air coming out of Missoula, and that's not even helping to warm things up across the region.
The high-resolution forecast model shows we are expecting dry conditions throughout the day here in south-central Montana.
Maybe some spotty showers will do an end run around us by Wednesday morning and then, those showers will track on in the Canada and the rest of the Midwest.
It's going to be hot tomorrow for much of south-central and southern Montana as temps get up to 101 degrees at Hardin 97 at Billings and a lot of 90s around the rest of the area.
Our temps will stay into the 80s for the rest of today, then roll back down to 64 in the morning, then back up to 93 degrees at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
We will actually top out at 97 on Wednesday and then the temperatures roll back down into the 70s by the weekend and the early part of next week.
