BILLINGS — On this last day of 2019, the weather has decided to give us a combination of sun breaks and showers. At the moment we are looking at sun breaks; the showers will come later tonight.

The weather in Billings, really isn't all that bad, except for the wind today, which is out of the southwest at 29 mph. But the temperatures had warmed up to 41 degrees at 2:30 p.m.

Around the rest the state our temps are mostly into the 20s and 30s in the west, 40s in central Montana and still a few lingering 30s around the northeast.

Our weather forecast for the area today will be kind of unsettled, with periods of rain, snow and dry, off and on throughout much of the next 24 hours.

The threat board is starting to fill up with High Wind Warnings, Flood Watches due to ice jams and even a Winter Storm Warning on the Rocky Mountain Front and the Beartooths for up to 15 inches of snow.

Plus, for the rest of the west we are looking at a Winter Weather Advisory for various amounts of snow.

We even have a Winter Storm Warning for the Beartooth mountains. They can pick up 9 to 15 inches of snow over the next 24 hours.

The Doppler radar shows the snow is already beginning to move into the central part of the state this afternoon.

The High-Resolution forecast model shows that rain and snow showers will start moving into the Billings area around 6 p.m., and by midnight those showers will be entrenched in south-central Montana.

We will see a hole in the clouds Wednesday morning but then it's back to the unsettled weather pattern throughout the rest of the day on Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures will stay into the 40s this afternoon and drop back down to the 30s overnight.

We bounce back up to 47 degrees on Wednesday. We will get back up to 50 degrees on Saturday then back down to the 40s on Sunday and Monday.
