Q2 Weather: Fire season is upon us

BILLINGS – Fire weather concerns for Wednesday.

Passing disturbances will once again kick up some isolated thunderstorms mainly in eastern Montana through Wednesday night.

Gusty winds, low relative humidity and hot afternoon temperatures are elevating concerns for wildfire development.

Red Flag Fire Warnings are posted for several counties of northern and central Montana until 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire Weather Watches are posted further east in northern Montana until 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The forecast for Billings

Today: Partly cloudy and hot with a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms, west winds 10 to 20 mph and a high of 98.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, a 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms and a low of 60.

Thursday: Sunny and not as hot with a high of 90.
