Q2 Weather: Storms Friday evening favor similar path in Montana to Thursday, and the weekend forecast

Posted

BILLINGS- Much in the same area and for the same reasons, the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms could develop again Friday night.

Severe storms are again possible north and west of Billings from Wheatland County (Harlowton), Golden Valley County (Ryegate), to Musselshell County (Roundup) through Friday evening. The potential for heavy rain, large hail and funnel clouds exist.

Storms closer to Billings westward toward Columbus and Big Timber are also possible, but less likely.

As a cold front shifts through the area in the late evening, the weather picture gets quieter for Saturday. Low temperatures will drop mainly to the 50s to around 60 early Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s Saturday afternoon.

Expect decreasing clouds Saturday, and a quiet start Sunday. By Sunday afternoon and evening, the chance of showers and thunderstorms redevelops, but less likely severe weather and just general thunderstorms.

Things look unsettled next week with hit and miss showers and thunderstorms each afternoon including Independence Day.

Billings forecast:

Friday night… Increasing clouds with isolated showers and thunderstorms during the evening. A low near 60.

Saturday… More clouds in the morning with a gradual clearing in the afternoon. Winds are generally light with a high of about 81.
