BILLINGS – It is going to stay chilly for a while.

Rain and snow showers will wind down Friday morning.  Areas of fog will persist through mid-morning.

Expect a mix of clouds and sun Friday afternoon with high temperatures mainly in the mid-40s to mid-50s for the lower elevations.  Temperatures will be similar Saturday afternoon, but with more cloud cover.

After a lull in the precipitation, more rain and snow showers return especially Saturday afternoon through Sunday.  Another break in the action will occur either Monday or Tuesday, depending on the path of this next weather maker.

While showers will come and go, the cold air remains entrenched.  Average high temperatures in early October run in the upper 50s to mid-60s.  Instead, expect highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s most of next week.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Morning showers lead to a partly cloudy afternoon. High near 54.

Friday night… Mostly Cloudy with a low around 36.

Saturday… Mostly cloudy with an isolated rain shower possible in the afternoon.  About 53 for the high. Showers return late Saturday.
