A small wildfire has been reported in Yellowstone National Park as fire danger is now rated high.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, a new lightning-caused wildland fire was detected about one mile west of Dunraven Pass. The Carnelian Fire is 0.1 acres and is smoldering in an area that last burned in 1988.

Crews are monitoring the fire and smoke may be visible from the park road.

There are no current area, trail, or campsite closures.

Campfires are only permitted within established fire rings in campgrounds and some backcountry campsites, according to a press release.
