Former President Barack Obama met privately with Montana Gov. Steve Bullock in Washington, D.C., as Democrats make last-minute pushes to recruit candidates for the U.S. Senate, according to Politico.

The meeting was confirmed by a Bullock adviser while he was in town for the National Governor's Association winter meeting, according to the D.C.-based online newspaper.

Bullock, who ended his presidential bid in December, has repeatedly resisted calls to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Steve Daines this year. He is prevented from running as governor again by term limits.

After the Obama meeting, a Bullock aide told Politico the governor still has no interest in the Senate seat.
