BOZEMAN – Students chanted “Aaron, Aaron, Aaron” Saturday night as Aaron Clair was declared the 2019 Bozeman High School prom king.

Aaron, 19, struggles to communicate verbally because he has Down syndrome. But by his perseverance and communication through his actions and heart, Aaron won prom king by a landslide.

When the announcement was made, everyone erupted into applause and started to high-five Aaron. Happiness and joy overcame him as he and Prom Queen Sophia Robinson were crowned as royalty.

“It was just really cool seeing everyone cheer for Aaron and everyone be so supportive of everyone in the school,” said Robinson. “It’s awesome. Yeah, I probably will remember this day forever. Will you remember it forever Aaron?”

“Yeah!” he exclaimed.

For Aaron’s mother, Angie Hovde, the night was one of her proudest moments.

“I just felt like my heart was going to explode,” said Hovde. “I just, it was unbelievable. It was complete awe. It just means the world.”

Hovde said Aaron was ecstatic throughout the whole night and even FaceTimed with his teachers’ aide Sunday morning to show off his new crown.
