High school athletes to gather for Pursue Excellence

BILLINGS — Monday, Sept. 30, more than 30 local high school athletes, and their coach mentors, will gather at Billings Clinic for Pursue Excellence.

Pursue Excellence is a group of high school athletes, two per grade, voted on by their peers from local high schools to be role models and leaders.

At their kickoff meeting on Monday, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., they will hear from two Billings Clinic health care experts, Psychologist Lyle Seavy PhD, on what it means to be a role model in high school, and Registered Dietitian Anna Kasperick RD, on how to use food as fuel for convenient nutrition as a high school athlete

It will be held at the Billings Clinic Mary Alice Fortin Conference Center (next to the main hospital cafeteria).

The schedule is as follows:

10:30-10:40 - Introductions

10:40-11:00 - Lyle Seavy PhD discusseshigh school athletes as role models

11:00-11:20 - Anna Kasperick RD discusses “Food as Fuel” nutrition for athletes

11:30-12:00 - Lunch, followed by activities with School District 2 Director of Athletics and Activities Mark Wahl
