BILLINGS — Dogs and their owners had a chance to enjoy downtown Billings for "Downtown Day of the Dogs Howl-O-Ween on Saturday.

The Downtown Billings Alliance (DBA) held the event, which is separate from Halloween.

Some owners dressed their dogs in costumes and took pictures.

It was a celebration for dogs who are not allowed at big events, such as the Harvest Festival.

The dogs roamed downtown and had a chance for their own-trick-or-treats.

"We want people to remember how walk-able our downtown is," said Lindsay Richardson, DBA director of events. "We've got some really beautiful blocks. Today actually is such a blustery day, but it's pretty, and dogs all love it. It's our mission as the downtown association to bring people downtown. To spend time here. To have that livablity, walkability of a neighborhood, so this event helps with that. "

Proceeds from the pictures went to the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.
