BILLINGS — Billings Amateur Hockey Association is joining USA Hockey in celebrating current players while growing participation for girl’s hockey as part of the International Ice Hockey Federation's Girls’ Hockey Weekend.
Girls between the ages of four and 12 are invited to try hockey for free this weekend at Centennial Ice Arena.
The Try Hockey for Free event begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and lasts for an hour with an on-ice session.
Hockey gear, skates, helmets, sticks, and gloves will be available for any girl wanting to give hockey a try.
On-ice instructors will provide instruction in a fun atmosphere to expose girls to the sport of hockey.
Women’s hockey is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Today there are 37 collegiate club programs, 86 NCAA Div. I and Div III programs, and numerous international high-performance events, led by the Olympics.
