Police ID man involved in Billings stolen-car crash; suspect other involved in other thefts

BILLINGS- Police have identified the suspect who allegedly caused a four-car crash in a stolen vehicle and fled on foot, and they believe he and other suspects may be involved in other car thefts.

Melvin Dale Brown, 37, was booked into Yellowstone County jail on suspicion of four charges of felony criminal endangerment and one felony charge of possession of stolen property. He also faces misdemeanor and traffic related to the incident.

Billings Police Lt. Brandon Wooley said Wednesday police are investigating Brown’s involvement in other stolen vehicles and connections to other potential suspects.

Police said that Brown allegedlystole a vehicle Tuesday evening and was spotted by a patrol car on Broadwater Avenue around 4:55 p.m.

He allegedly T-boned another vehicle at the corner of 15th Street West and caused a four-vehicle collision. He allegedly then fled the scene but was quickly captured.

No bond has been listed for Brown.
