BILLINGS – It’s a Montana mashup Saturday as the Billings Junior Roller Derby team the BackAlley Brats take on the Butcher Babes from Greeley, Colorado.
The bout begins at 1 p.m. today at Ziggy’s, located at 1760 Monad Road, and costs $5 at the door. Kids under seven get in free.
The BackAlley Brats are currently ranked 20th in the Junior Roller Derby Association after competing in a 10 team tourney over Memorial weekend in Topeka, Kansas. The team is comprised of girls 12 to 18 years old.
The JRDA is a public nonprofit educational and amateur sports organization that is dedicated to advancing the growth of roller derby through the standardization of rules and goals for existing and new leagues.
“These girls want to win today,” said John Copple, spokesman for the team. “They’ve been working really hard to get ranked where they are, and we are all really excited today.”
Q2 will update with results.
