BILLINGS- Tonight Q2 News dives into the epidemic of stolen cars in our community.
Chances, you or someone you know has probably been a victim and that’s because Billings ranks high nationally when it comes the number of stolen vehicles.
Billings Police say every year of hundreds of vehicles were stolen within city limits. With the hottest hit spots right downtown.
But the good news is, many are recovered- roughly 80 percent.
Still, the toll on victims is intense. Rita Giebink and her son Gerald Giebink are just some of many who have been impacted by thieves.
“We are going to pay anyway. We are going to pay higher insurance premiums, because of how many cars are stolen in Billings Montana. We are going to pay because we lose property. We are going to pay because now we have to buy security systems,” said Rita Giebink.
In our special report, Billings police reveal the motive behind this grand theft epidemic.
They say the whole community needs to step up to change this trend.
This Q2 special investigation airs Thursday Night at 10.
