BILLINGS – A Billings Police patrol car was rear ended by a Chevy pickup while parked behind an initial accident caused by bridge icing Friday morning, according to the Billings Police Department.

The 38-year-old officer suffered injuries and the patrol car sustained “significant” damage. He was taken to a local medical facility by American Medical Response where he was evaluated and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup, a 47-year-old woman from Columbus was not injured and cited for careless driving.

BPD asked residents to be mindful of changing road conditions this time of year and to slow down when approaching lighted patrol cars.
