BILLINGS- A 63-year-old man died Monday afternoon in a car crash near the intersection of Neibauer Road and 48th Street West west of ZooMontana, according to Montana Highway Patrol.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle accident just before 3 p.m., troopers said.
A green Buick LeSabre sedan was heading south on 48th Street West and appeared to have run a stop sign, Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Kyle Hayter said.
The sedan was T-boned on the driver side by an oncoming maroon Hyundai SUV, which was traveling westbound on Neibauer Road, Hayter said. Both cars were forced off the roads into a nearby feed lot, he said.
A dog was in the vehicle of the deceased man and was taken to a local animal shelter, Hayter said. His vehicle had Gallatin County plates.
“We’ve has a few wrecks here, probably no more than any other place on the West End. The West End is bad at the intersection, just because you have some stop signs and some through streets. It’s a combination of people not paying attention, distracted,” Hayter said.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 57-year-old woman, was injured and taken to St. Vincent Healthcare.
Drugs, alcohol and speed are not suspected as factors, according to the highway patrol.
