The last weekend of shopping before Christmas brings about what retailers call Super Saturday.
Shopping at the Rimrock Mall was good on Saturday, according Daron Olson, the mall’s marketing director.
Olson said last year, about 15,000 shopped at the Rimrock Mall on the Saturday before Christmas and this year should be as good or better.
Olson said many more are shopping rather than browsing.
He says industry surveys show that half the adults in the country shopped on Saturday.
“This is the Super Bowl season for retail,” Olson said. “So I mean the last couple days, absolutely a crucial time period for a lot of retailers trying to get those end of year numbers up. People tout Black Friday as being one of the busiest shopping days. There might be some stats going the last couple years that Super Saturday might have Black Friday beat. Today, Dec. 22, I saw this post just earlier today on Facebook. There’s only two more days until the men start showing up to start shopping.”
Olson said the day after Christmas is also a very busy day, with people cashing in gift cards and bringing returns.
