An annual Billings Christmas tradition ended Sunday afternoon at the Alberta Bair Theater.
The Messiah Festival, features music from German composer George Frideric Handel and his work Messiah, written in 1741.
The St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation hosted the Messiah Festival for 25 years and decided this will be the Grand Finale.
The concert was free and had been a benefit fundraiser.
Twenty five years ago, the foundation had planned on a five to 10 year run.
It decided to end the festival this year with the upcoming renovations to the theater.
“With the theater being dark next year, we felt like it was a great time to go out,” said Heather Bergeson, director of special events for the foundation. “Wanted to go out while the theater was still full of audience and the stage was still full of singers. We wanted to end on a high note and with this being our 25th anniversary. We felt it very fitting that this would be our last year.”
The Messiah Festival has raised money for the Meadowlark House, which provides housing for cancer patients and their families.
