Posted

BILLINGS – New ideas keeping children safe is part of the benefit of the 12th annual Safe Kids Yellowstone County at the Rimrock Mall.

Parents received help with how to properly install seats in the parking lot.

The Safe Kids Coalition said it’s best to keep children facing backward at an older age than previously recommended.

A distracted driving course also showed the difficulty in texting and driving at the same time.

The event was about getting safety information to parents and children.

“Injury is one of the leading causes of death for children under the age of 18,” said Koren Bloom coordinator for Safe Kids Yellowstone County, part of the Safe Kids Coalition. “So the purpose of our coalition is to try and reduce the number of death and injuries that are affecting the children in our community.”

The event also included safety tips inside the Rimrock Mall, including health screenings and instructions on CPR.
