BILLINGS- There is a high likelihood of triple-digit temperatures on Friday and Saturday, with the potential to break all time heat records on both of those days.
We headed down to the fair ground with an infrared heat gun which reads the temperatures of various surfaces and the numbers we found are well above the hundred degree ambient air temperature.
Pavement was consistently around 140 degrees and various ride seats came in at around 130 degrees.
If you are heading to the fairgrounds in these conditions, the weather is something you are absolutely going to have to be prepared for, especially if you are planning to bring young children, who are more susceptible to heat related illnesses.
Sunscreen is a must, and remember to reapply if you are out in the sun for more than a couple of hours. Staying hydrated will be key and if you are planning to partake in some of the alcoholic or sugary beverages that are for sale down at MetraPark please remember that even though it might be refreshing, alcohol and sugar dense drinks serve to dehydrate and not to hydrate.
Many of the buildings on the fairgrounds are air conditioned so if you need a break from the heat you can head inside and check out some of the animals, browse the Marketplace or wander through Heritage Arts.
