Q2 Weather: Storms to start, then comes the heat

This week, we switch from a chance of to the hottest temperatures so far this season.

Highs today will be mainly in the 70s to low 80s. A disturbance moving through will trip off showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening.

Areas from Forsyth extending toward North Dakota have a chance of strong to severe storms that could include damaging wind and larger hail.

Expect a few scattered area showers and thunderstorms this evening, with a chance of rain decreasing overnight. Lows are mainly in the 50s.

For Tuesday, highs are mainly in the 70s. Some 60s in the mountain foothills.

There is a chance of late day showers and thunderstorms scattered here and there was some stronger storms in extreme Southeast Montana.

After Tuesday, the trend is hotter and drier. Highs could be close to 90 on Thursday and well in the 90s by Friday.

Billings forecast:

Monday: Mostly sunny with a high near 80. Light West wind with increasing afternoon clouds.

Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms during the evening, the slight chance of showers overnight. Low around 54.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms. About 75 for the high.
